Dear Auntiji,

"Did you see Mr Sharma's daughter at the mall yesterday?"
"Oh, that girl wearing such a short dress, roaming around with three boys?"
"Yes, that's her. Girls nowadays! They have no sense of responsibility. They do not think about the reputation of their own family!"
" And then, when something wrong happens, they blame it all on the men. What will men do if you roam around with them, wearing such provocative clothes?"
"Truly, girls of today have lost all sense of right and wring!"

Is it just men who need to change the way they think about us? Or is it we who need a little mind lifting as well?
Dear Auntiji,
Imagine a man. A man whose clothes caught fire. What is the first thing that comes to your mind?
Is it "Oh he shouldn't have left the house wearing such inflammable clothing. What else does he expect?" "What does he think of himself, walking around on the road without a fire extinguisher?" "He should have known that there might be flammable substances outside, he should have stayed indoors"
Sounds stupid doesn't it? This is how insensitive and illogical you sound when you blame the victim.
Rape is never the victim's fault. Read it. Read it until it gets very clear in your head.
Stop discussing how a girl should dress so that she doesn't have to face sexual harassment. Don't stop women around you from doing what pleases them. You're not helping them. You're simply making them realize that it is okay for men to objectify women.
Do not respect a woman and her decisions just because she's a woman, respect her because every human deserves respect irregardless of their gender.
